At commercetools, diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) are at the heart of everything we do. Learn about our commitment to a diverse workplace and the initiatives driving innovation, inclusivity and growth in 2025.
As we approach 2025, commercetools remains steadfast in its mission to revolutionize digital commerce by fostering a company culture that values diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB). Our dedication to these principles not only enriches our internal community but also enhances the innovative solutions we provide to our clients. Here's how our initiatives align with our core values and contribute to our overarching goals.
Prioritizing mental well-being with OpenUp
Recognizing that mental health is integral to employee satisfaction and productivity, commercetools has partnered with OpenUp, a leading mental health platform. This collaboration offers our team members confidential access to professional support, webinars and resources, ensuring they have the tools needed to navigate personal and professional challenges effectively.
Celebrating Pride beyond the month
At commercetools, inclusivity transcends a single month. Our active employee resource groups (ERGs) and participation in Pride events underscore our commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community. By promoting safe spaces and open dialogues, we ensure that every voice is heard and valued, reinforcing our dedication to a diverse workplace. After celebrating Pride in Munich and Berlin in the last two years, our signature Pride event will be hosted in Sydney in 2025.
Empowering women in tech
Addressing the gender gap in technology is a priority for us. Initiatives like the Women in Tech Series: Melbourne Tech and Sales Night Out provide platforms for networking and mentorship. Additionally, our internal programs, such as the women’s leadership program HERizon and our women’s employee resource group, are designed to support and elevate women within our organization, aligning with our value to "Cultivate Belonging."
Strengthening community through ERGs
Our ERGs are pivotal in promoting inclusivity. They offer support networks for various groups, including employees with disabilities, and spearhead initiatives that drive positive organizational change. These groups embody our commitment to supporting a sense of belonging and ensuring that diverse perspectives are represented and respected.
Our ERGs include:
women@commercetools: Promotes and pushes for a larger base and reach for women in tech, strengthening and expanding the importance of cultural diversity in the workplace, as well as the role of women in technical professional roles.
Open Minds: Serves as a safe and open space for anyone at commercetools to seek resources and information that supports the abolishment of systemic racism in the world.
BLK Leaders: Strives to empower both the internal and external global Black community and people of color by fostering psychological safety, providing learning and development opportunities, and developing a network of diverse allies.
Planet Earth Alliance (PEA): Launched as a sustainability ERG to create a space for employees to learn about climate change and sustainability, as well as support green initiatives that help push the Earth toward a more sustainable future.
Parents Empowerment: Supporting parents in navigating the joys and challenges of balancing work and family life, the Parents Empowerment ERG provides a space for connection, resources and mutual support. From sharing tips and strategies to advocating for family-friendly workplace policies, this ERG is dedicated to developing a community where parents can thrive both personally and professionally.
Global volunteering initiatives
Giving back to the community is integral to commercetools' ethos. We encourage our employees to engage in global volunteering efforts, from local community service projects to international initiatives. This commitment reflects our dedication to social responsibility and our desire to make a positive impact beyond our immediate business operations. In 2024, 14% of our employees donated a full working day to a charitable cause and volunteered. We are proud to continue that path in strengthening our ties with local communities across the globe.
Enhancing knowledge with the LinkedIn Live Toolbox Series
Continuous learning in the workplace is essential in the ever-evolving tech landscape. Our LinkedIn Live Toolbox Series provides employees with insights into industry trends, leadership strategies and technical skills. By investing in our team's development, we ensure they are equipped to meet the dynamic needs of our clients.
Aligning initiatives with commercetools' mission
These initiatives are not standalone efforts; they are integral to commercetools' mission to empower businesses through innovative and flexible commerce solutions. By encouraging a diverse and inclusive culture, we harness a wide range of perspectives that drive creativity and innovation. This, in turn, enables us to deliver tailored solutions that meet the unique needs of our clients, helping them succeed in the digital economy. It is our firm belief that by nurturing an inclusive environment, we continue to attract top talent that thrives at commercetools.
Our commitment to DEIB is also reflected in our core values, such as "Adapt Boldly" and "Cultivate Belonging," which guide our interactions with clients and inform the development of our products and services.
