At commercetools, we believe that a diverse and inclusive culture is the foundation of innovation. This year, in celebration of German Diversity Day by Charta der Vielfalt, we are thrilled to spotlight the exceptional individuals who go above and beyond to make our company a more inclusive place for all. Our DEI Champions are those who truly embody one of our main initiatives: Cultivate belonging.

DEI at commercetools

Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is unwavering, and we are eager to continue progressing toward greater inclusion and belonging. As a company founded in Munich, Germany, we are proud members of the Charta der Vielfalt, a corporate initiative supported by over 5,000 companies and 14.7 million employees globally.

According to Charta der Vielfalt, German Diversity Day is a day of action in Germany. It aims to provide a platform that promotes diversity and inclusion in organizations. Companies and institutions actively address the topic and show their commitment to an open and non-discriminatory working environment. It serves as an opportunity and format to raise awareness of diversity in the world of work, break down prejudices and promote inclusive working environments in Germany.

In March, we invited all commercetoolers to nominate colleagues who have significantly shaped our company’s environment and culture. The response was incredible, and we are proud to introduce our 10 DEI Champions. These individuals have uniquely contributed to fostering a sense of belonging, encouraging inclusive interactions and building positive relationships across the organization.

To honor their contributions, we have created a special DEI Yearbook dedicated to our DEI champions. This yearbook is a testament to what commercetools stands for — a place where diversity fuels innovation. Let’s take a closer look at two of our champions and their inspiring stories:

Catherine Jones, France (remote)

Catherine Jones is celebrated for her remarkable role in cultivating a true sense of belonging within our remote team in France. She organized a social all-hands event that brought the team closer together, promoting transparent communication and unity. Catherine’s efforts have transformed our workplace culture, setting a high standard for what it means to contribute to an inclusive and transparent environment. Her dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion embodies the values of commercetools and has made a significant impact on promoting a better workplace for all.

Marc Stracuzza, Durham

Marc Stracuzza is a cornerstone of our DEI efforts at commercetools. His personal commitment to diversity and inclusion is evident in everything he does. Marc’s actions, words and heart consistently drive the message of diversity forward. He not only practices these values at work but also integrates them into his personal life and community activities. Marc leads the employee resource group “Open Minds,” encouraging honest and open dialogue that helps us grow together and become stronger. His dedication to DEI is an inspiration to all of us.

These are just two examples of the 10 compelling stories featured in our DEI Yearbook. Each champion has made significant strides in creating a more inclusive and equitable workplace. We encourage you to explore their stories and be inspired by their commitment and impact.

In addition to celebrating our champions, we are excited to support their ongoing efforts. Each DEI Champion has been awarded €500 EUR to further enhance the impact of their work. This token of appreciation allows us to invest in the initiatives that make commercetools a better place. The only condition is that this money is used in a way that involves other commercetoolers, amplifying their efforts to cultivate belonging.

We invite you to check out our specially designed DEI Yearbook and join us in celebrating the incredible contributions of our DEI Champions. Together, we can continue to build a culture where everyone feels valued and included.
