MUNICH, GERMANY - August 22, 2024 commercetools, a global commerce company and the leader in composable commerce, today announced the release of its 2023 Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report, fulfilling its commitment to transparency under the European Union's Corporate Social Reporting Directives (CSRD). The report details insights into the composable commerce leader’s progress and dedication to ESG areas, reinforcing its focus on sustainability as a core element of commercetools’ strategy.

Highlights from the 2023 report include:
Processed 753.63 pebibytes of data—three times the annual amount of data generated by all U.S. households—while emitting only 606.47 tons of greenhouse gases, showcasing its efficiency and commitment to minimizing environmental impact.
Measured total GHG emissions at 3,420.75 tonnes of CO2, with zero Scope 1 emissions and only 28.94 tonnes in Scope 2. Nearly 50% of office energy now comes from renewable sources, with plans to increase this by 2025.
Reduced its GHG emissions per employee to 5.2 tons per year, below the 6.9-ton industry average, with a continuing downward trend.
In April 2024, commercetools earned the EcoVadis award which recognized the company’s excellence in environmental stewardship, ethics, labor, human rights, and sustainable procurement, further motivating the company to pursue its sustainability goals. Per EcoVadis, commercetools is in the top 19% of companies for ethics and the top 28% for sustainable procurement within the data processing, hosting, and related activities industry.
