In-car commerce product information management system powered by commercetools platform

MUNICH (Germany), September 23, 2019 – commercetools, a leader in next-generation commerce software, today announced that Audi has chosen its commerce software platform to enable new digital in-car services for its digital services platform.  By utilising the commercetools software, Audi customers can buy and activate new functions in their car via their myAudi app. The new digital functions on-demand capabilities will be launched in Germany before being rolled out to other European markets over the coming months.

The Audi product information management (PIM) sits on the commercetools commerce platform and is used to maintain information such as prices, translations of product text, functions and services, benefiting dealers and customers. Product data is stored and managed via a central data maintenance system that is location-independent. Output channels such as websites, web shops or points of sale are connected as standard.

Matthes Kohndrow, Product Owner Digital Business at AUDI AG, explains why they chose the commercetools platform:

Initially, we were looking for an eCommerce solution to respond quickly and flexibly to changing customer requirements. We chose commercetools because the platform allows us to extend our microservice-based landscape with e-commerce capabilities. We are convinced that commercetools is a strong partner for our digital strategy.
