commercetools Appoints Michael Sharp As New Chief Product Officer
As the company evolves into a multi-product portfolio organization, commercetools taps veteran product management leader, Michael Sharp, to lead product strategy.
MUNICH (Germany), May 16, 2022 - commercetools, the leader in digital commerce and inventor of headless commerce, today announced it has appointed Michael Sharp as the company’s new Chief Product Officer (CPO).

Over the last year, commercetools evolved into a multi-product company with the acquisition of the composable frontend platform Frontastic (now commercetools Frontend) in 2021 and the introduction of commercetools for Growth in early 2022. With over 15 years of experience building, scaling, and leading product management for best-in-class Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) technology portfolios, Sharp will be focused on building out commercetools’ portfolio of products to further grow and scale the company’s world-class team and offerings.
With years of experience working with some of the world’s leading technologies, in 2006, Sharp co-founded Jive Communications, a leading provider of cloud-based phone systems, and served as the Chief Operating Officer and later Chief Product Officer for the organization. In 2018, Jive Communications was acquired by LogMeIn, a leading provider of cloud-based solutions. Following this acquisition, Sharp transitioned into a new role as the Vice President of Product for LogMeIn’s Unified Communications and Collaboration (UCC) portfolio of products and later became the portfolio’s Chief Product Officer. In this role, he led international product management, oversaw a team of over 60 people, launched numerous new products, and integrated and consolidated standalone offerings into a single unified application, all while driving significant market growth. Sharp also serves on the board of directors for The Rollins Center for Entrepreneurship at his alma mater Brigham Young University.
This appointment comes on the heels of the hypergrowth the company saw over the last year—reaching unicorn status, increasing its employee headcount by 53% year-over-year, adding new clients including Lululemon, L.L. Bean, Sephora, and DirecTV, and adding the company’s first-ever Chief Marketing Officer Jen Jones.
